Prickly Poppy - <i>Argemone munita</i>

General Characteristics: An erect herbaceous plant that emerges each spring and dies back to the ground each fall. The leaves are thistle-like with many prominent spines. Native to the Bear Valley.

Flowers and Fruits: Flowers mid to late summer. Flowers are white.

Height: 2-3 feet.

Width: 1-2 feet.

Horticultural Notes: Available commercially with some searching. Produces abundant seed, which germinate erratically. Once established, requires no irrigation. Prefers hot, dry locations in full sun.
